Create The Perfect Textured Ponytail At Home
Follow these simple steps by one of our top session stylists Sarina Lo Giudice.
A perfect style for all occasions.
Step1
Prepping your hair is a vital part when you want to achieve texture.
Firstly holding your arm approx 30cm from your head, gently misting through with the 'Kevin Murphy Hair Resort Spray' and also 'Kevin Murphy Anti Gravity Spray'. These 2 products will help to create volume and texture to hold your pony perfectly.
Step 2
Creating the perfect curl.
This lady's hair is styled into a textured wave, which is created by leaving approx 2-3 inches at the ends of the hair out of the tong when curling. Sounds crazy I know, try it! I am sure you will love it. Using 'GHD Creative Curl Wand'. Don't be too worried about perfect sectioning when creating textured waves, different directions and sections creates more dimension. Have fun and relax.
Step 3
Using the 'Kevin Murphy Session Flex Spray' & 'GHD Detangling Comb', you will now dress out your waves. Hold your hand approx 30cm from your head and gently spritz your spray throughout your whole head, making sure it is distributed through the underneath too. Next take your wide tooth comb and start to comb from the ends first working up towards the root.
Step 4
Sprinkle a touch of the 'Kevin Murphy Powder Puff' in the root area to really lock in that volume and support the structure.
Section your desired front pieces down - do not put these into your hair bobble.
Pull your hair back into a low ponytail and place a hair bobble/elastic of your choice.
Hold onto the ponytail by the bobble and gently pull your hair out of the bobble slightly. This is creating a messy lived-in look rather than a neat ponytail.
Last but not least, take a small section from your ponytail, wrap this around the bobble. This will give you a more textured finish with no bobble on show.
